STONE WAY RESTAURANT
A contemporary restaurant in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood, designed with a minimalist aesthetic and open kitchen layout to create a versatile space for everyday dining and private events.
We set out to design a versatile, welcoming space for a well-known local restaurateur, aiming to accommodate both everyday dining and exclusive private events. Upon entering, guests are immediately drawn to the open kitchen, where the chef has an unobstructed view of every table, ensuring efficient service. This layout, a client-driven priority, enhances the dining experience by fostering a direct connection between the kitchen and the dining floor.
The space includes a chef's counter, a private dining room, and open seating with a bar, creating a variety of dining options. The minimalist design is intentional, allowing the focus to remain on the food. Full-height white oak screen walls divide the dining area into intimate sections, while pendant lights define distinct zones throughout.
Low wood slat ceilings anchor key areas like the bar, banquettes, and chef’s counter, adding warmth and texture. Vibrant accents of deep blue, found in the wallpaper, tiles, and upholstery, provide contrast and bring energy to each unique space within the restaurant. The cumulative effect of each of these design decisions results in a refined yet inviting atmosphere for all guests.
