Our clients sought to replace their existing detached garage with a combined guest studio and a work-from-home office. The unique feature of the property was its terraced layout, descending from the alley to the street below. This layout provided an opportunity to integrate the proposed structure into the hill's slope. This approach allowed us to maintain the same overall height as the original garage when seen from the alley, while effectively doubling the building area by adding a walk-out basement to the DADU.

The upper level of the structure provides guests with a private space, offering stunning views of Lake Washington. Meanwhile, the lower level serves as a versatile indoor/outdoor studio, accessible from the backyard.
